Privacy Policy

Short version: We do not collect personal data, require no account or sign-up, and most tools process files entirely in your browser — your subtitle files are never uploaded to our servers for those tools.

1. Who We Are

Subtitleiy (subtitleiy.com) is a free online toolkit for editing and converting subtitle files — with no account required.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect as little data as possible. Specifically:

  • Server logs — our server automatically records standard HTTP request logs (IP address, timestamp, URL path, browser type). These are retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and debugging purposes.

We do not collect: names, email addresses, phone numbers, payment information, or any other personally identifiable information.

3. Your Subtitle Files

Most tools (sync, convert, clean, merge, color, position) run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files are never uploaded to our servers for these tools and never leave your device.

Three server-side tools (Convert to PDF, Convert to UTF-8, Chinese Pinyin) require your file to be sent to our server for processing. These files are processed in memory and are not stored or retained after your request completes.

4. Contact Form

If you use our contact form, we collect the information you provide (name, email address, message) in order to respond to your inquiry. This information is not shared with third parties and is deleted once the inquiry is resolved.

5. Third-Party Services

Subtitleiy relies on the following third-party services:

  • Cloudflare — infrastructure provider and reverse proxy. May process request metadata (IP, headers) for DDoS protection. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Fonts — fonts loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log the request. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns. No personal data is linked to analytics events. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Google AdSense — we display ads through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to show relevant ads. See Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies

The following cookies may be set when you visit Subtitleiy:

  • __cf_bm (Cloudflare) — set by Cloudflare for bot management. Session cookie.
  • _ga, _gid, _ga_* (Google Analytics) — used for aggregate traffic analytics. Expire after 2 years / 24 hours respectively.
  • Advertising cookies (Google AdSense) — set by Google to serve and personalise ads.

We do not use cookies to track individuals or build personal profiles.

7. Data Retention

  • Server access logs: up to 30 days.
  • Contact form submissions: until the inquiry is resolved.
  • Files uploaded to server-side tools: not retained (processed in memory only).

8. Your Rights

Because we do not store personal profiles, there is generally no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold data about you (e.g. in server logs or a contact submission) and wish to request its deletion, contact us at hello@subtitleiy.com.

9. Children's Privacy

Subtitleiy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
